Saffron Building Society and Essex County Council marked a significant milestone with the grand opening of Saffron’s new Braintree branch over two days of celebration, welcoming distinguished guests and the local community to Braintree Library.

The ribbon cutting ceremony was performed by the High Sheriff of Essex, alongside Cllr Durham and Saffron Building Society’s CEO, Colin Field. The ribbon cutting marked the official opening of the new branch, which will provide a range of face-to-face services to people, businesses and community groups in the Braintree community.

The grand opening attracted considerable interest, with around 130 people entering Saffron’s competition to win up to £5,000. There were three lucky winners, each receiving prizes as part of Saffron’s commitment to celebrate this milestone with the local community.

Colin Field, CEO at Saffron Building Society said “The grand opening celebrated the importance of delivering innovative solutions to ensure community services are supported, and ensuring they are available for future generations, for years to come. We’re proud of the partnership with Essex County Council and we look forward to continuing to work closely with them.”

Councillor Mark Durham, Cabinet Member for the Arts, Heritage and Culture at Essex County Council, said: “While modern online banking is amazing, we must not neglect those who are less familiar with the technology required to access it or prefer face-to-face support.

“Braintree Library is a fantastic space where residents and visitors will now be able to manage their money and access financial support seamlessly.

“Our libraries are offering more and more for residents as they become vibrant community hubs as well as places for reading and learning.”

Saffron Building Society and Essex County Council would like to thank everyone for their support in making the grand opening a success.
