Saffron Walden Cricket Club
We are proud to sponsor Saffron Walden Cricket Club, who pride themselves on offering inclusive cricketing opportunities for all ages and abilities. From junior players as young as four to adults and individuals with special needs, our pathways cater to everyone's cricketing journey.
Founded in 1859, Saffron Walden Cricket Club has a rich legacy that spans generations. In 1954, the club relocated to the picturesque Anglo American Playing Fields, just a short stroll from the Market Square, nestled next to Bridge End Gardens and behind the local football club. Recognised as one of the finest cricket grounds in East Anglia, the first match played on this historic ground was against Sawbridgeworth on 1 May 1954, marking the end of nearly 200 years of cricket on the Common.

Saffron Walden Hockey Club
Saffron Walden Hockey Club (SWHC), offers a welcoming environment for players of all ages and skill levels, featuring eight men’s teams, six ladies’ teams, and development squads for younger players. The club thrives on diversity, strong local school partnerships a commitment to quality coaching and facilities. They believe in fostering respect among all participants and aim to create a dynamic, exciting, fun brand of hockey.
Their youth section provides a clear pathway from ages 5 to 18, ensuring players progress to senior hockey while enjoying their journey. They proudly support their junior teams, who regularly excel in regional and national competitions, while also hosting social events, including mixed leagues and Back to Hockey sessions for returning players. SWHC are dedicated to building a supportive community where everyone can grow and enjoy the sport.

Saffron Walden Community Football Club
Saffron Walden Community Football Club is the heartbeat of local football, proudly providing weekly training and match opportunities for approximately 300 girls across 18 teams and an impressive 600 boys across 60 teams, catering to ages ranging from U7s to U18s, along with a dedicated women’s league team. The teams compete in various leagues throughout Cambridgeshire, as well as in Essex and Hertfordshire. Additionally, we offer engaging programmes like the Mini Soccer School and Wildcats for younger children, and inclusive groups tailored for Soccability, women’s recreational football, and walking football.
Operating as a registered charity, SWCFC is powered by the passion and dedication of over 200 volunteers, embodying the spirit of a true community club. To sustain their operations and keep player registration fees as low as possible, they rely on generous donations and sponsorship from local businesses.
