Saffron Building Society, which offers support to WizeUp Financial Education through their community support efforts, joins forces to present their first joint webinar offering financial education to parents and students.

WizeUp is a UK charity whose aim is to revamp the support given to individual students, parents, and teachers by making financial and employability learning more accessible, providing support to students in the area for some time, earning charitable status in 2020. Saffron chose to support the charity as part of the society’s Financial Wellbeing support activities, helping members manage and improve their financial situation.

The two organisations have joined forces to offer parents and students education and dispel the misunderstandings around student finance. With the pandemic causing students a lot of disruption in 2020 and into 2021, there is apprehension with parents and students alike about what is in store for students heading to university.
Ed Flack, the founder of WizeUp Financial Education, explains why the webinar is essential: “For young people to make an informed choice when deciding on life after school, they need to know the facts, especially on the financial commitment they are undertaking if they go to university. Parents may be expected to support their children financially on this journey too. This webinar will give both students and parents the facts on student finance and will provide a forum for them to ask their own questions.”

Registration for the webinar is completely free of charge to parents and students. This webinar is a live event with Ed, alongside Claire Hunnable from Saffron Building Society, who will be taking questions directly from the audience and providing essential information to assist parents and educate students.

Claire Hunnable, Community Business Partner at Saffron Building Society, comments: “Working with Ed and the team at WizeUp has been a joy, and we are always looking for ways to join forces to increase financial and employability learning. The webinar is a great example of this. We are excited to communicate directly with our members and their families, and the community around our local branches to offer education and support on student finance. We are excited to see what feedback we get from the parents and students alike.”
