Eligibility and applications

Essex Community Foundation (ECF) manages the Saffron Community Fund. We have our own set of criteria alongside ECF’s overall criteria that need to be met when applying for a grant.

The Saffron Community Fund will award grants of up to £5,000 to organisations working with: 

• Older people
• Children and young people
• People battling severe or long term illness
• The local community to support green causes

ECF will consider applications from Registered Charities, Community Interest Companies (CICs), Charitable Incorporated Organisations, Unincorporated groups and Companies Limited by Guarantee. CIC's and Companies limited by guarantee all need to have in place an asset lock and named asset locked body. CIC's limited by shares can only be considered if they are under Schedule 2 articles. 

All groups must have a minimum of three unrelated trustees or directors, with no significant control held by an individual, a signed governing document, a bank account in the name of the organisation, signed/dated Equal Opportunities and Safeguarding Policies, and be able to provide a recent set of annual accounts. A newly set-up organisation, will need to provide a forecasted budget for the year in spreadsheet form.
