Leave more than just memories. Fix the costs of the services in your funeral plan.
An easy way to pay for funeral costs in advance
Having to make difficult decisions about what you wanted for your funeral when the time comes will be the last thing your loved ones want to think about when you pass away. Why not help to remove that worry from them by paying towards your funeral arrangements in advance through a prepaid funeral plan.
Not only will taking out a plan give you that all important peace of mind, secure in the knowledge that you have documented your funeral wishes, but it will also help to protect your loved ones from the effects of rising funeral costs.
Saffron has teamed-up with its trusted partner, Dignity, one of the UK's leading funeral plan providers, to offer you the Prepaid Funeral Plan. This enables you to fix the costs of the services in your chosen Plan at today's prices. There’s an option to suit many budgets, you can either pay in a single lump sum or spread the costs over a period of up to twenty five years. Please note that if you spread the cost over more than 12 months there is an extra charge and all payments must be completed by the 85th birthday of the eldest person named on the plan.
Why it's a good idea to pay in advance
Research undertaken by Dignity shows the average funeral cost in 2020 was £4,163*. The Prepaid Funeral Plan may therefore be something you want to consider to help make a provision towards these costs.
If this trend continues, by 2029 the average cost of a funeral could reach £5,833**. This means that any savings you have set aside to cover these expenses in the future may not be keeping pace and could leave behind a shortfall for your family and friends.
There are three Plans to choose from, each offers a unique set of benefits so you can select the option that suits you best. Each plan guarantees the funeral directors services for arranging and conducting the funeral. For a cremation, the crematorium and minister’s fees in the plan are covered, and for a burial, a contribution is made towards burial costs which increases in line with RPI.
Once the Plan is paid for, neither you nor your loved ones will need to make any further financial contributions towards the services specified in the Plan. This means the family won’t be left with an unexpected bill for these costs when the time comes. The Plan is available to anyone aged 50 or above and you are guaranteed to be accepted without any medical questions. More details about the choice of Plans available can be found in the brochure which is downloadable here.
Help for your loved ones
Most importantly, the Prepaid Funeral Plan means that, when the time comes, your family need only make one phone call to set the Plan in motion, removing the worry of finding a funeral director, deciding on the most appropriate arrangements and dealing with payments for the services in the Plan. Your loved ones will also receive all the support and guidance they need from Dignity's UK based 24 hour Client Service Centre who in 2017, were awarded the BSI Kitemark for Customer Service and Complaint Management - the first company in the UK to gain this.
