An easy way to pay for funeral costs in advance
Having to make difficult decisions about what you wanted for your funeral when the time comes will be the last thing your loved ones want to think about when you pass away. Why not help to remove that worry from them by paying towards your funeral arrangements in advance through a prepaid funeral plan.
Not only will taking out a plan give you that all important peace of mind, secure in the knowledge that you have documented your funeral wishes, but it will also help to protect your loved ones from the effects of rising funeral costs.

This enables you to fix the costs of the services in your chosen Plan at today's prices. There’s an option to suit many budgets, you can either pay in a single lump sum or spread the costs over a period of up to five years (other options are available please ask for details). Please note that there’s an extra administration charge for payments by instalments of greater than a twelve month term.
Why it's a good idea to pay in advance
Research undertaken by Dignity shows that the average cost of funerals has more than doubled in the last 15 years. An average funeral cost is estimated to currently be £3,737 based on Matter Research commissioned by Dignity as at August 2015. The Prepaid Funeral Plan may therefore be something you want to consider to help make a provision towards these costs. If this trend continues, by 2023 the average cost of a funeral could reach £6,107. This forecast is based on a compounded growth rate of 6.33% each year between 2007 and 2015. This means that the chances are any savings you have set aside to cover these expenses will not be keeping pace with rising funeral costs.
Deciding which funeral plan is best for you
There are three Plans to choose from, each offers a unique set of benefits so you can select the option that suits you best. The Prepaid Funeral Plan can be used for a cremation funeral service, covering the services specified. A burial option is also available but Dignity cannot guarantee the Plan in the same way, due to the variation in cost throughout the UK, therefore a contribution towards burial and other third party costs is made. Once the Plan is paid for, neither you nor your loved ones will need to make any further financial contributions towards the services specified in the Plan. This means the family won’t be left with an unexpected bill for these costs when the time comes. The Plan is available to anyone aged 50 or above and you are guaranteed to be accepted without any medical questions.
