About Saffron Walden
Saffron Walden is a picturesque market town in North West Essex. The town has many examples of period architecture, from medieval timber-framed houses, to the ruins of its own castle, which dates back to the 1130s. At the heart of the town lies St Mary’s Church, the largest parish church in Essex.
Audley End House is found just outside of Saffron Walden and is one of the finest Jacobean houses in England. Saffron Walden boasts the largest surviving turf maze in Europe, as well as an impressive hedge maze.
From more recent times, Saffron Walden is home to a variety of charming independent shops, a not-for-profit independent cinema and one of the biggest and best outdoor skateboard parks in England.
We are very proud of what we do at Saffron Building Society. We like to think that we make a difference.
