Saffron Community Choir

Started as way of engaging with the Members and the staff of the Society, the Saffron Building Society Community Choir has grown into a strong and happy choir of all ages. The choir encourages singers of any ability to come along and join in the fun (it doesn’t conduct auditions).

The choir meets every Friday at midday in the Committee Room at the back of Saffron Walden Town Hall which is on the Market Square. It sings for an hour and its repertoire ranges from traditional through choral to contemporary music.

The choir performs regularly throughout the year and has concerts and performances booked in 2017 including one at Saffron Hall. The choir occasionally joins forces with other choirs to perform at larger venues and in 2016 performed at the internationally renowned West Road Concert Hall in Cambridge. But the choir also performs locally and has made appearances at smaller venues such as local care homes to entertain the residents.

Any profit made from performances is donated to the Saffron Building Society’s Community Fund which benefits charities throughout the Society’s heartland of Essex and Hertfordshire.

So what better way to start your weekend by coming along on Friday lunchtime and singing your heart out with a group of likeminded people?

Go on, you know you want to!

And remember “singing in a choir is cheaper than therapy, healthier than drinking and more fun than working out!”
