Now this figure has been reached the club can enter the legal process to secure their home at Catons Lane for the next century and the opportunity to apply for grants to improve the ground and club facilities knowing that the club’s location will be secured.
SWTFC, established since 1872 and a founding member of the Essex Senior League, has ambitions to grow as a community facility and to win promotion to the Bostik League within the next 2-3 seasons. Saffron Building Society, another long standing Saffron Walden entity, having been established in the town since 1849 has supported ‘The Bloods’ for some time and also sponsors the club’s main stand.
Jonathan Scripps, SWTFC’s Chairman said: “Saffron, like our football club, are part of Saffron Walden’s history. Thanks to their support we’ll be able to guarantee our long term future here at Catons Lane once the legal process is complete. This will give us the opportunity to develop the club for generations to come.
Saffron Building Society is really involved with the club, volunteering and using the facilities. It’s great to see, they genuinely care.”
Colin Field, Saffron’s CEO added: “Saffron Building Society are delighted to be supporting our town’s football team this way. Both the club and the building society are continued supporters of the local community and are proud to be part of Saffron Walden’s heritage. We wish the team every success for the upcoming campaign.”
