Saffron offers £5 to young savers this summer

Saffron Building Society, the regional building society serving East Anglia, is offering a £5 account top-up for all young savers who open or pay in to a Ladybird savings account this summer.

Special vouchers can be downloaded from the Saffron website and used in any of Saffron's branches or agencies to take advantage of the £5 top-up offer.

The Ladybird account is Saffron's flagship children's savings account, paying 1.50% gross p.a./AER* on balances of £1+, 1.85% gross p.a./AER* on balances of £10,000+ and 2.25% gross p.a./AER* on balances of £25,000 or over. It is available for children aged 0 to 11. The account also comes with a free Ladybird moneybox to encourage younger savers to keep track of their pennies.

Sales & Marketing Director John Eastgate said: "Children's savings sit at the heart of Saffron's savings accounts. We don't underestimate the importance of starting the 'savings habit' when young, and hope that our popular Ladybird account is helping to get children in our area off to a great start. Of course, we're here first and foremost for our existing customers, which is why we're offering the £5 boost for any Ladybird saver making a payment in over the summer holidays."

* The gross rate is the rate before deducting tax at the rate applicable to savings income. The annual equivalent rate (AER) is a notional rate which illustrates the contractual rate (excluding any bonus interest payable) as if paid and compounded on an annual basis.

The Ladybird £5 top up offer will close on 31st August 2010. This offer is subject to availability and Saffron Building Society retains the right to close the offer at any time.
