£160 winning Saffron Ladybird found in Ware Town Centre
Saffron Building Society today announced that a Ladybird containing £160 has been found in Ware as part of the Society's Ladybird treasure hunt. Pat Vinall was in the town with her granddaughter Amy-Mae (aged 18 months) when Amy-Mae spotted the lucky ladybird outside the Saffron branch. The special ticket inside was worth £160 which was invested in a Ladybird account for Amy-Mae.
Saffron launched the competition as part of its ongoing 160th birthday celebrations and to raise awareness of the Saffron Ladybird account which is open to savers aged 11 or under. In total 1200 Ladybirds were hidden around Saffron's branch area.
All of the hidden Ladybirds contained a £1 prize, and when finders took their lucky Ladybird into a Saffron branch and used the £1 to open a Saffron Ladybird account, the Society boosted the amount into £5 as a thank you for joining. Some of the Ladybirds contained special purple tickets; one worth £1600 when deposited in a Ladybird account, and four further tickets worth £160 when deposited in a Ladybird account.
Pat Vinall said: "It was lovely to find that the Ladybird was worth £160. I've opened the Ladybird account for Amy-Mae as I hope that the account and the £160 will be something she can use as she gets older!"
Sara Andrews, the Society's General Manager said: "Congratulations to Pat and Amy-Mae. Saffron's Ladybird Treasure Hunt is about encouraging our younger savers by making saving fun, and the £160 prize is the icing on the cake. Well done to everyone else who has found a Ladybird and taken it in to their local branch; having opened their own savings account, they can start watching their £5 grow.
"To mark our 160th year we felt it was important to give something back to the community. Through the Ladybird treasure hunt we have been able to highlight the importance of starting saving young, and have brought local families together through the shared experience of searching for one of the 1200 winning Ladybirds."
