Society sets challenge for SWCHS Diploma students
Saffron Building Society today announces that it is proud to be working with Saffron Walden County High School in support of the school's IT Diploma.
Saffron will present business challenges to students in year 9 and year 12 in the first two weeks of October. Each group will be tasked with offering an IT-based solution to the Society's business requirements.
The younger students will be designing a package aimed at delivering internal staff training online, working with the Society's Development Manager. The Year 12s are asked to develop a management information tool and will be briefed and supported by the Society's Head of Retail Sales.
Both groups of students will be presented with their assignments during a visit to Saffron's Head Office. They will be encouraged to put questions to staff and gain a greater understanding of the Society's internal makeup.
Richard Canning, Director of ICT at SWCHS said: "We are very grateful to Saffron for welcoming our students in to its offices and presenting them with a challenge for their business enterprise. The IT Diploma is centered on application of the students' skills and knowledge, so to have a local business offer a project for our students is absolutely ideal".
Sara Andrews, the Society's General Manager said: "We are delighted that we are able to support local students in their studies by setting them a genuine challenge from our working environment. Our staff will be in touch with the students throughout the project and we are hoping to see some creative solutions!"
The students' projects will be reviewed at a business presentation, hosted by SWCHS in December. Saffron managers will then select an overall winner from each group.
