Saffron Ladybird savers could win £1600 in the Ladybird Treasure Hunt!

Hundreds of ladybirds to be found!

Four special prizes of £160 available and one £1600!*

Saffron Building Society, the regional mutual serving East Anglia, is launching a Ladybird treasure hunt to encourage young people to save. The competition is part of its ongoing 160th birthday celebrations and to raise awareness of the Saffron Ladybird account which is open to savers aged 11 or under.

Saffron has hidden hundreds of ladybirds in places it has branches across Essex, Suffolk and Hertfordshire, each containing £1. If finders take their lucky Ladybird into a branch and use the £1 to open a Saffron Ladybird account, Saffron will 'magic' the amount into £5 as a thank you for joining. One of the Ladybirds contains a special purple ticket worth £1600 when deposited in a Ladybird account, while four more contain yellow tickets - each worth £160 when deposited in a Ladybird account.

The treasure hunt will take place from Tuesday 18th August, and the Ladybirds will be hidden in a range of secret locations across Saffron Walden. Daily clues and riddles on the runaway Ladybirds' whereabouts can be found on the Ladybird Treasure Hunt website (www.saffronladybird.co.uk). The website can also be used to follow the progress of other Ladybird trackers, exchange stories, upload photos and share tips.

Andy Golding, Saffron's Chief Executive said: "With so much uncertainty about the economy, it's important to get children interested in saving at an early age. We want to help children understand the value of money and the importance of saving towards a goal. Turning this into a fun family activity will help to make saving money fun, rather than something for mum and dad.

"To support the competition we've also launched a special microsite, creating an online Ladybird community to encourage children and their families to connect with other people in their area, building on our commitment to support our customers and our community."

The competition is only open to children aged under eleven years old. Anyone finding a Ladybird who is above this age is encouraged to take it into their local Saffron branch so that it can be re-hidden.
