Building Society to celebrate 160th Anniversary with public party
Saffron Building Society, the regional mutual serving East Anglia, will be celebrating its 160th birthday with a party in its Haverhill branch on Friday 14th August.
The branch is also a celebrating 40 years in Haverhill, marked by the party's 1960's flavour.
Members and non-members alike are invited to the event, which will be raising money for The Sick Children's Trust, a local charity providing accommodation for families whose children are receiving hospital treatment for serious illness.
For every person in the branch wearing one of Saffron's '160th Birthday' badges, Saffron will donate 25p to the charity.
In addition, there will be entertainment, a face painter, cake and candyfloss. The Society will also be holding a raffle for £160, open to all and free to enter. Staff will be collecting donations throughout the day and hope to raise a generous sum.
The party will run from 10am - 4pm, with the cutting of the cake taking place at 11am in the branch on Queen Street.
Joy Worship, manager of Acorn House at Addenbrooke's, Cambridge said:
"We're delighted that Saffron's Haverhill branch have chosen to support the Sick Children's Trust through their party. The service we provide makes a huge difference to families, so it's particularly fitting that a fun, family occasion will be raising money for us. We wish the Society good luck with their fundraising and a very Happy Birthday!"
John Eastgate, Saffron's Sales and Marketing Director said:
"It's our hope that the party will raise plenty of money for an excellent cause, as well as bringing some added fun and excitement to Haverhill during the school summer holiday. The party is another way that we are giving something back to the community in 2009. We feel that we've got a lot to celebrate and want to see as many people as possible on 14th August"
