Building Society to celebrate 160th Anniversary with public party
Saffron Building Society, the regional mutual serving East Anglia, will be celebrating its 160th birthday with a party in its Bishop's Stortford branch on Thursday 13th August.
Members and non-members alike are invited to the event, which will be raising money for 'Kisses for Kids' - a local charity aimed at granting 'wishes' of seriously ill children and teenagers.
For every person in the branch wearing one of Saffron's '160th Birthday' badges, Saffron will donate 25p to the charity.
In addition, there will be entertainment, a face painter, cake and candyfloss. The Society will also be holding a raffle for £160, open to all and free to enter. Staff will be collecting donations throughout the day and hope to raise a generous sum.
The party will run from 10am - 4pm, with the cutting of the cake taking place at 11am in the branch on Bishop's Stortford Market Square.
Stacey Johnson, founder of 'Kisses 4 Kids' said:
"It's great that Saffron are supporting Kisses 4 Kids with their birthday celebration. The charity's account is with the Society, so I'm often in the branch. Kisses 4 Kids helps young people around Bishop's Stortford and beyond, so having local support means so much to us".
John Eastgate, Saffron's Sales and Marketing Director said:
"It's our hope that the party will raise plenty of money for an excellent cause, as well as bringing some added fun and excitement to Bishop's Stortford during the school summer holiday. The party is another way that we are giving something back to the community in 2009. We feel that we've got a lot to celebrate and want to see as many people as possible on 13th August"
