Staff from Saffron Building Society, the regional mutual serving East Anglia, swapped their pens and passbooks machines for paintbrushes to clean up the playground of Katherine Semar Infant School in Saffron Walden.
The Building Society staff washed the faded fences and before repainting the woodwork, leaving the play area looking colourful, fresh and clean.
Jane Gilmour, Head Teacher at Katherine Semar said:
"We are very grateful to Saffron Building Society for sending a team of staff over to us. The fences have long needed attention, but it would have been a lot of work for one person. The team from Saffron BS has managed it all in one day!
"The work has made such a difference to the playground. Now that the children are playing outside more often, I'm delighted that their surroundings are well looked after".
The Saffron BS volunteering day was arranged as part of the Building Society's 160th Anniversary Celebrations in which staff from across the region pledged to give 160 hours back to their communities.
This project saw staff from Saffron's branches and Head Office working together. They were joined by Sales and Marketing Director, John Eastgate who said:
"We asked our staff to suggest community projects which would benefit from our help - this project was brought to our attention as our staff have children who attend the school. I'm glad that we have been able to make a difference to the school by giving them a little of our time".
"Our volunteer initiatives are just one way that we hope to give something back to organisations and families in the areas that we serve. We will continue supporting communities in our branch network in the years to come, just as we have for the past 160 years".
