Charities
Saffron has long supported local charities in a multitude of ways - whether through donations, hire of the MCV, or getting stuck in to help with some volunteering. This page provides an update on how our help has made a difference.

Saffi: aged 12 weeks
Members who attended the 2008 AGM will remember Guide Dog puppies Saffi and Ronnie - their Guide Dog training was sponsored by the Society's 2007 £10k charity donation. Both dogs are now at the London Guide Dog Training School following their puppy training. Once they become 'fully qualified' Guide Dogs, one will be allocated to a blind or partially sighted person in Essex and one in Hertfordshire.
Our branches and staff have a number of charitable causes close to their hearts, and we try to help as many as we can.
In total, the Society donated £20,764 to charities and community organisations over 2008.
We also have affinity accounts to support the work undertaken by Essex Air Ambulance, Essex Wildlife Trust and East Anglia Children's Hospices (EACH). You can find out more about these here.

Essex FM - Martin & Su's Essex Kids

Saffron Chief Executive Andy Golding presenting Martin & Su with a cheque for £10,000.
In 2008 we invited applications for a £10,000 donation from local charitable organisations. We received numerous applications, shortlisted, and opened the final three charities to a staff vote. The winner of the donation was Martin & Su's Essex Kids.
