Doing good stuff in your community
The roots of all building societies lie with their local communities, and Saffron is no exception! We are extremely proud of our links with local groups and endeavour to support as many local projects as possible.
These pages give an overview of our recent community projects, as well as ways in which we can help events, fundraisers or local groups.
In 2007 we sponsored the training of 2 puppies as Guide Dogs for the Blind.
We have had an update on Saffie, one of those dogs, who is now with her 2nd owner. Her new home is with a blind person who travels around the country and it is Saffie's role to help her to find her way round hotels and conferences centres which she visits as part of her work. Saffie is described as a totally reliable and safe guide dog who is incredibly well behaved and her new owner says she is "over the moon" with her and so appreciative of the difference she has made in her life.
Saffie also lives with Goldie, a Hearing Dog for the Deaf, with whom she has formed a special bond.
2010 saw the establishment of the Saffron Building Society Community Fund.
