Investors in People

Investors in People (IiP) is a national standard which sets a level of good practice for improving an organisation's work through its people.

The Society recognises the importance of encouraging staff to make the best possible contribution to the Society's success.

In July 2003 we achieved the national Investors in People standard in recognition of our commitment to developing our staff to help us to meet business objectives.

During 2003 we provided study assistance to 42 staff members to enable them to study for appropriate financial or specialist qualifications.

In addition to informal training and coaching sessions, we delivered off-site training on a wide range of topics.

We have also improved internal communication and introduced computer-based training through the launch of an intranet which was designed by a project team made up of staff from different areas of the business.

We conducted our first employee opinion survey and were delighted with a 93% response rate. Our staff told us that they particularly appreciate us as an equal opportunity employer, providing options to balance home and work life and respecting individual differences.
